Drink
This is the page description.
Both the beer world and Old Fountain have changed immeasurably over the last 15 years. Before becoming a Free House, we were part of the Whitbread brewery pub estate and you would have had a very limited selection of beer to choose from. Now we are free to explore the weird and wonderful beers and breweries that proliferate the UK and the rest of the world.
Across 9 handpulls and 20 taps, we aim to provide a range of beers & ciders that offer something for everyone. Some instantly recognisable brands (we serve a fantastic pint of Guinness and Camden Hells) alongside a taste of something new or different (how about a ⅓ of 14% imperial coffee stout or ⅔ of a soft & fruity New England pale ale?).
Our 8 Real Ales include the ever popular Oakham Citra & Fuller’s London Pride accompanied by 6 rotational lines devoted to Pale Ales, IPAs, Amber/Red/Best Bitters/Milds, Porters/Stouts. The idea is there’ll always be something available in a style you desire. Of course, the nature of real ale means that won’t always be the case but that’s the challenge of cellaring beer and a good reason why we champion great cask beer. We have great respect for our brewing heritage and tradition and are proud to serve these styles of beer alongside more modern on-trend styles.
We love beer but we are neither nerds nor snobs about it. The pub is a place for conversation and discussion. We are always willing to engage in a conversation in the hope that we can find the right drink for you.
Low ABV beers - the quality and array has increased fantastically in recent years and we stock 5 beers at <0.5%abv.
Exploratory drinking - we offer ⅓ measures of any beer and staff are happy to offer tasters before you buy
CONSCIENTIOUS DRINKING
Vegan / gluten-free - there is always vegan beer available and we now stock 6 GF beers in the fridge and occasionally have some on tap/pull.
We do tend to focus on smaller, independent breweries and are always keen to support local breweries but only if the beer is good enough!
